Medicaid (Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare) Renewal

Minnesota has maintained healthcare coverage for its Medicaid enrollees during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since March 2020, Minnesotans who newly gained eligibility or already had eligibility for Medicaid (called Medical Assistance in Minnesota) or MinnesotaCare have remained enrolled in the coverage.

However, federal law now requires the restart of regular Medicaid (Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare) renewals.

What does this mean for me?

Medical Assistance renewals occur based on the anniversary month of application for coverage. If you work with a health plan, contact them to learn more about when your renewal will take place. MinnesotaCare renewals will begin in October 2023 for coverage effective Jan. 1, 2024.

How do I know my renewal date?

Minnesotans can access their renewal date through the Minnesota Department of Human Services renewal search tool. Visit the website and enter your case and member number to find your renewal date.

I have additional questions about the renewal process…
